PHASE 01

Concepting

DELIVERABLE
Moodboard

When the client and I first discussed the brief for the project, we talked about a few key words and ideas that would define the look & feel. Emily wanted the project to have a hopeful tone, in spite of the harshness of reality that this project would be bringing to light. With that foundation, I created two potential moodboards for the project, one focused on the LGBTQIA2S+ folks being centered, and the other focused on the fact that the project was local to Oregon.

PHASE 02

Visual Identity

DELIVERABLE
Typography, Assets, and Colors

A type family was chosen for the body text, and with the color palette from the moodboard I created a wave pattern to use on deliverables.

PHASE 03

Design

DELIVERABLE
Logo Design

The project called for a simple wordmark logo to be created. Thankfully Emily and I both loved the typeface that was used in the moodboard, so all that was required were some tweaks to the letter spacing. I then created left-aligned, right-aligned, and centered versions in black, white, and dark blue so that the logo would be as flexible as possible.

DELIVERABLE
Peer Funder Briefing Invitation

The next deliverable was an invitation to the Peer Funder Briefing, a remote event for potential donors to hear about the project, ask questions, and decide if it was something they wanted to support. The design went through only one draft – the client loved it off the bat. The invitation also got 5x the RSVPs originally predicted by the project group, something Emily largely attributed to the design.

DELIVERABLE
Project Document PDFs

The final deliverables designed for the project were PDFs describing the projects goals and research work. The task required taking over 50 pages of materials produced by the team in Google Docs, and designing a digital booklet that could be accessed by donors or community members interested in the project.
